Job Description

OVERALL PURPOSE OF POSITION

  • Commercial Analytics Specialist is a critical role for KM Malta Airlines as the key conduit of KPI management and all commercial analytics developments. The performance of the entire Enterprise is reliant on utilizing and interpreting data, such that effective and reliable business decisions are made, based on accurate information.
  • Accountable for the setting and management of all metrics for good control of revenue performance and strategic compliance across commercial. The role will also develop the capability – technology and people skills – that will deliver the timely insights and analytics that the business needs across all data and all processes.
  • The role is to act as a hub and spoke model that delivers the dashboards, tools. analytics and algorithms that deliver competitive advantage.
  • The role will be a key partner with Field Sales, Revenue Management, Network Planning, Distribution, Marketing and other relevant stakeholders in developing revenue, cost saving strategies and actions.
  • The role will also initiate, monitor and support ad hoc initiatives within sales as required acting as a challenger of all commercial sections.
  • Core owner of RM systems development and system enhancements, partnering with KM Malta Airlines IT + other necessary 3rd party suppliers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a centre of enablement for KM Malta Airlines, encompassing all aspects of corporate strategy, data, information and analytics strategy.
  • Actively contribute to the development of the overall commercial strategy and business plan for the airline.
  • Take responsibility for construct and distribution of revenue budget targets by partnering with Network Sales and Revenue Management.
  • Create & Monitor performance and KPIs.
  • Create a centre of Excellence to drive effective use of data across the organisation.
  • Own, create and developing all technical aspects related to data tracking, delivery and reporting.
  • Responsible for developing automated reporting solutions, including dashboards.
  • Build and run the tools essential for the competitive use of data.
  • Ensure that regulatory compliance and data quality is maintained throughout the design and management of data and information systems, set standards to manage both physical and logical data.
  • Provide thought leadership and knowledge share with senior stakeholders’ cross enterprise, promote opportunities to benefit from improved utilisation of data assets.
  • Implement new statistical or other mathematical methodologies as needed for specific models or analysis.
  • Communicate results and ideas to key decision makers.
  • Create, document and present technical designs, technical solutions to relevant stakeholders.
  • Establish continuous improvement for strategy development, data management and quality, measure improvements and report these measures to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure communication of sales actions and results within the team and to stakeholders in Sales, Revenue Management, Network Planning, Distribution, and Finance
  • Develop and foster relationships with reporting and analytics communities across the organisation identifying opportunities to share best practice and develop collaborative strategies that deliver group benefits.
  • Introduce more effective analytics to drive faster and better decision making.
  • Drive out manual interventions wherever technology allows.
  • Harness the potential of Big Data and Bot technology (machine learning).

Working Conditions:

  • Office based - Monday to Friday.
  • May be required to travel.
  • Required to perform some duties at other sales channels.
  • Required to work after hours in case of disruption

Emergency Response:

  • Responsibilities for the emergency response processes and procedures, as defined in the Emergency Response Programme Manual for your role.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, AND SKILLS

Experience:

  • Extensive background in data mining and / or statistical analysis.
  • Able to understand various data structures and common methods in data transformation.
  • Able to demonstrate, Excellent pattern recognition and predictive modelling skills.
  • Experience with programming languages, such as Java / Saas / Python / SQL.
  • Practical experience with data processing, database design, database programming and data analytics.
  • Familiarity in Revenue Forecasting, Revenue & Route Planning, Commercial Data Architectures, Airline Data Warehouse, Revenue Accounting, NDC, One Order.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify, prioritize and resolve key project and partnership issues.
  • Demonstrate the ability to create and lead high performance and metrics focused teams that consistently exceed targets.
  • Experience in the airline industry is desired.

Qualifications:

  • Degree MQF Level 6 or higher or other professional qualification in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math / Data Science or related field (essential).

Skills:

  • Computing & Analytics: Requires a basic knowledge on Cloud platforms, SQL & NoSQL, Tableau, PowerBI, MicroStrategy, Project Management, Business Analysis, Agile, Data Modeling & Warehousing, Data Mining.
  • Advanced IT user, including a high level of proficiency of the following packages: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • An international mindset.
