AIRPORT CHECK-IN

For passengers without internet access or who need to check in baggage, our helpful staff at the airport will assist you and issue your boarding pass. Please make sure to arrive at least 2.5hrs prior to departure.

Arriving earlier at the departure terminal will ensure that you free yourself from carrying your checked luggage and making your way to the boarding gate quicker.

Connecting Flights

As Malta's national airline, we connect millions of people to major cities in Europe, and in collaboration with our partner airlines, we extend this reach to multiple destinations around the world.

CONNECTING TIME

The connecting time required will vary at each gateway airport. Enquire with the airline or agency you have booked your tickets with to ensure you understand the time needed to catch your next flight.

If you have booked your flight tickets separately, the airline will only be responsible for the flight listed on the ticket of which they are operating.

You must be at the gate for your onward journey at least 20 minutes before your connecting flight departs to be able to travel. This might also vary depending on the airline/airport.

CHECKING IN

If you have booked your connecting flights together, i.e. you have one booking reference with the same ticket number including both/all flight sectors, you can check-in yourself and your bags at once. This allows you to skip checking in again at your connecting airport.

If you have booked your flights on separate tickets or have only checked-in for your first flight, after landing you will need to:

  • Follow the signs for Baggage Reclaim and pick up your checked bags (if any)
  • Go to the check-in area or transfer desk of the operating airline of your connecting flight
  • Check in again for your second flight and make your way to the boarding gate

Please note that in such cases, you are not entitled for rebooking in case of missed connection.

If you have any doubts, please ask a staff member at the check-in desk or Sales Office at the start of your journey.

BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE

Passengers travelling to/from Malta via a connecting flight with another airline are entitled to the baggage allowance of the airline operating the longest flight.

For KM Malta Airlines' fare conditions, find more information here.

MISSING A FLIGHT CONNECTION

If a delayed flight causes you to miss a connecting flight with another airline, you should be provided with an alternative routing to your final destination. However, if your itinerary is on separate tickets, we are only responsible for your journey up to the destination on your ticket.

If you booked your connecting flight separately with another airline, please contact the airline that you booked your flight with.
