Job Description

OVERALL PURPOSE OF POSITION

This role manages and oversee KM Malta Airlines’ ticketing and distribution systems ensuring that KM Malta Airlines distribution operates effectively and efficiently. Specific oversights include:

  • Ancillary filing
  • Merchandising manager
  • Fare Brands management

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sabre Management
  1. Defining and supporting the development of plans for improving KM Malta Airlines’ use of Sabre in line with company’s needs and the agreed project investment process.
  2. Supporting the development of Sabre operational budget for commercial projects in line with KM Malta Airlines’ strategic objectives.
  3. Responsible for business management of the Sabre ticketing and retail system within agreed budget, objectives, and performance targets.
  4. Accountable for KM Malta Airlines’ Sabre reservation system, including advising on any upgrades or options, testing, and managing the deployment of upgrades or new features and providing cross-departmental support when required.
  5. Consult with staff in Commercial and other divisions to ensure Sabre’s e-ticketing, retailing and distribution platform continues to meet the needs of the organisation and works with the processes in the rest of the organisation.
  6. Participate in and contribute to cross-functional teams as requested and/or where the ticketing and distribution systems support team can help.
  7. Close co-operation with Ground operations to ensure passenger sales/ticket information relates correctly to airport check-in delivery.
  • IET – Interline e-Ticketing
  1. Provide support on IET issues and e-ticket issues on 3rd party DCS.
  2. Accountable for the implementation of MITA and IET with other airlines, conducting testing of e-ticket an IET processes with Sabre, DCS suppliers, ground handling agents, and other airlines as required.
  3. Accountable for the resolution of e-ticketing and IET issues.
  4. Close co-operation with Ground operations to ensure passenger sales/ticket information relates correctly to airport check-in delivery.
  5. Ensure consistent roll out of all e-ticket and retailing capabilities across all distribution channels.
  • Ancillary EMD Management.
  • Dynamic Retailer.
  • Merchandising Manager.
  • Other duties that, from time to time, might be assigned by the Head Digital and Distribution.
  • Accountable to work with the Head of Digital & Distribution to develop a medium to long-term roadmap for Customer centricity to ensure conformity to the KM Malta Airlines’ overall sales growth strategy.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE

  • Responsibilities for the emergency response processes and procedures, as defined in the Emergency Response Program Manual for your role.

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Understand individual operational safety and security responsibilities.
  • Be aware of personal health and safety and the health and safety of others at work.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Office based Monday to Friday.
  • May be required to travel.
  • May be required to perform some duties at other sales channels.
  • May be required to work after hours in case of disruption.

 

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, AND SKILLS

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience of Sabre or other airline reservation systems, e-ticketing, and IET processes (essential).
  • Good knowledge of GDSs systems.
  • High understanding of the airline ticketing and reservation processes and systems and how these can contribute to KM Malta Airlines’ performance and strategic objectives.
  • High capability to troubleshoot whenever reservation or ticketing issues may arise, liaising with 3rd party suppliers if needed.
  • High capability to work in fast-paced environments in order to meet projects timelines.
  • Able to work closely with all internal and external stakeholders, building rapport and long-term relationships, and puts sustained efforts into building influential relationships outside the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize and resolve key project and partnership issues.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and excellence in project management.
  • Confident IT user, including a high level of proficiency of the following packages: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
