Responsibilities

• Responsible for the day-to-day Management and control of the department promoting a strategic direction to evaluate several proposals and possibilities in best working practice to achieve identified targets.
• Ensures effective monitoring and troubleshooting of Ground Handling for all KM Malta Airlines flights acting as a liaison with the Handling Agents at MIA and all Outstations as may be required.
• Achieve on Time Performance Targets and service delivery standards.
• Achieving Customer Service Standards in accordance with contracted expectations.
• Ensures operational input and decision-making effecting Ground Handling Operation across the network, in the best interest of KM Malta Airlines and within Budget constraints.

Technical Responsibilities

• Responsible for the upkeep of the KM Malta Airlines DCS and its entries, support and is responsible for all database entries and inputting. Be the liaising person in between KM Malta Airlines and the DCS suppliers to handle communication when issues arise. Also, must support with the implementation of policies and procedures and day–to–day running of the office.
• Maintain the KM Malta Airlines Weight and Balance system database with all information required in order to enable the Load Planning Section to produce Electronic Weight and Balance documentation.
• Responsible to update outstations for the addition of new destinations, as well as communicating any new and/or changes to the procedures.
• Ensure that any changes and/or updates to the W/B database are made known to Load Planners throughout the KM Malta Airlines network and responsible for the delivery of the system training related to Weight & Balance.
• Deliver training Ground Handling personnel related to all Ground Operations procedures include but not limited to Turnaround Coordination and weight and balance.
• Liaise with IOC personnel regarding any problems encountered during operations.
• To aid all stations and handlers with the required technical support related to ground handling related systems.
• To maintain and contribute towards the development and revision of the Load and Balance Manual and the Ground Operations Manual.
• Responsible to update the DOW, DOI tables for the fleet and keep all parties concerned abreast of such changes.
• Manage updates related to KM Malta Airlines DCS whenever a change of basic data occurs for an aircraft type / tail.
• Updating of KM Malta Airlines AHM560 data sheets.
• To assist ground handling service providers with any issues related to DCS and Weight & Balance.
• Compiles, circulates, and maintains KM Malta Airlines fleet data for Electronic Check-in and Weight and Balance at outstations. Executing yearly data audit checks on all databases.
• Compiles, circulates, and maintains KM Malta Airlines Ground Operations Manual, KM Malta Airlines fleet Weight and Balance Manuals and/or any other Manual or part thereof pertaining to the Section

Safety Responsibilities

• Contribute to the Safety Management System by promoting safety reporting within the department.
• Ensure that any information/ issues communicated raised by the external service providers which are of a safety concern, are reported and filed through the proper channel - AQD reporting system.
• Promoting the Safety Management System (SMS) and facilitating associated processes, both within the Company, as well as with external service providers delivering outsourced functions within the scope of ground and cargo operations.
• Processing of ground safety reports.
• Conduct ground related safety investigations.
• Monitoring safety trends within the department and maintaining related safety performance indicators.
• Facilitating the development, implementation and monitoring of controls and mitigations to manage identified hazards.
• Maintaining departmental operational hazard and risk registers.
• Make sure that ground service providers have access to KM Malta Airlines reporting system – AQD. Responsible to ensure that KM Malta Airlines SMS training material for external service providers is delivered and understood.
• Responsible for initiating revisions to DOW/Is tables once notified of changes in the aircraft weight. Publish safety notices to external service providers in an efficient manner and verify acknowledgement through read receipts.
• Facilitate hazard identification as deemed necessary to participate in safety risk assessments.
• Further safety responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System Manual shall also apply.

• Conduct work abiding by all security requirements and regulations.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Communicate any information that may compromise the safety and/or security of our operation through the appropriate channels.
• Promoting security awareness and vigilance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Previous experience working within Airline Ground Operations.
• Experience in Aircraft Weight & Balance computations.
• Knowledge and experience in Airline Safety Management System.
• Meet AVSEC criteria for the provision of an AVSEC airport pass.
